About this opportunity:

 

We are seeking a driven and commercially minded Domestic Retail & Wholesale Trading Executive to lead Aje’s business within David Jones, across both the wholesale and retail environment. This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end wholesale relationship with David Jones while also overseeing the performance and execution of staffed shop-in-shops/pads in key doors.

This is a high-impact role blending commercial strategy, trading ownership, and retail execution. You’ll work cross-functionally to ensure Aje achieves wholesale sales targets, delivers best-in-class retail experiences, and nurtures a collaborative and profitable partnership with David Jones.

Key Responsibilities

1. Wholesale Account Management & Sales Performance

  • Manage the wholesale relationship with David Jones, serving as key contact for buyers, planners, and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement seasonal sales strategies in line with brand objectives and David Jones' customer profile.
  • Partner with internal teams on range planning, buy meetings, pricing strategies, and exclusive capsules where applicable.
  • Monitor weekly and seasonal sell-through, actively trading the account with replenishment, stock swaps, and markdown management.
  • Deliver wholesale sales targets and margin goals, ensuring growth across categories and key doors.
  • Prepare and present regular business reviews to internal leadership and David Jones partners, including performance analysis, risks, and opportunities.
  • Identify new opportunities for account growth, including door expansions, promotional activations, and digital alignment.

2. Retail Execution – Shop-in-Shop Performance

  • Lead the execution and performance of staffed pads within David Jones, focusing on top doors nationally.
  • Conduct regular visits to ensure premium store presentation, VM execution, and operational excellence.
  • Champion the customer experience across our shop-in-shops, aligning frontline teams with brand tone, service standards, and seasonal focuses.
  • Work with David Jones’ store teams to drive footfall, customer engagement, and conversion through activations and styling events.

3. People, Training & Advocacy

  • Deliver seasonal brand and product training to David Jones staff and Aje pad teams to ensure consistent brand advocacy.
  • Motivate and support staff performance through coaching and close collaboration with in-store leaders.
  • Partner with internal Retail Performance and People & Culture teams to maintain a high-performance culture on the shop floor.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Planning, Production, Marketing, and Logistics to ensure product delivery, promotional alignment, and in-store execution are seamless.
  • Share customer and market insights with internal teams to influence product development and future seasonal buys.
  • Act as the brand custodian within David Jones, ensuring consistent brand expression across all customer touchpoints.

Skills & Experience Required

  • 3+ years’ experience in wholesale account management, sales, or retail operations within the fashion industry.
  • Proven experience managing a key department store account – ideally David Jones or similar.
  • Strong understanding of the seasonal wholesale calendar, buy process, and in-store trading levers.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sales performance through data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing or influencing retail teams and visual execution.
  • Highly commercial with a passion for delivering premium customer experiences.
