About this opportunity:

  • Create detailed specs, make notes & sample requests for offshore sampling.
  • Follow direction from Creative Director & Senior Designers to ensure accurate translation of design concepts into production ready garments.
  • Work along Product Development to ensure all BOM’s, design details, make notes & specs are correct for each individual style & all comments are clearly communicated for factory understanding.
  • Analysing Bali toiles with a "production fitting eye” this ensures the appropriate fit alterations are actioned for a well-balanced garment which is in-line with our Aje standards.
  • Create detailed specs, make notes & sample requests for offshore sampling.
  • Follow direction from Creative Director & Senior Designers to ensure accurate translation of design concepts into production ready garments.
  • Work along Product Development to ensure all BOM’s, design details, make notes & specs are correct for each individual style & all comments are clearly communicated for factory understanding.
  • Analysing Bali toiles with a "production fitting eye” this ensures the appropriate fit alterations are actioned for a well-balanced garment which is in-line with our Aje standards.
  • Responsible for preparing all samples prior to fitting (press, measure & review to ensure all previous comments have been followed by the factory).
  • Flag any variance in size before fitting & ensure the factory is informed where appropriate.
  • Attend fittings to provide technical expertise, (pattern alterations & fit analysis).
  • Possessing the confidence to verbalise your ideas across to the team in a concise and professional manner.
  • Update specs correctly & provide clear detailed technical instructions for the factory to follow.
  • Awareness of any measurements that are not specific to Aje Standards Measurements to prevent any fit issues.
  • Ensure measurements are consistent across styles, categories & our supplier base as it expands.
  • Maintain consistency in sewing & make standards across all our supplier base.
  • Always strive for excellence & innovative ways to improve pattern shape & make with the goal to create a “high end garment”.
  • Collaborate with Design, Production, and the Atelier Technical Manager to promptly address technical and quality concerns in sampling, bulk production, and faulty returned garments, minimizing delays.
  • Support the factories to solve specific construction, pattern, measurements queries in-line with the Aje Standards. 
  • Provide accurate grading information for each garment.
  • Report on quality, faults and production each season detailing each factory performance against target.

You will bring:

  • Contemporary or luxury fashion experience is essential.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience specialising in women’s tailoring, dresses, and soft separates from day to evening.
  • Sharp eye for interpreting design detail.
  • High understanding of fit analysis & block balance.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction & patterns making across categories.
  • Excellent fabric knowledge encompassing woven and jersey from delicate to structured fabric bases, technical components, and sewing machines.
  • Experience working in factories in China and India.
  • Able to work in a collaborative approach across departments, open to constructive feedback and be pro-active.
  • Support the maintenance of a collaborative, positive & organised workspace.
  • Working closely with Atelier Technical Manager to facilitate seamless workflow & managing your workload from design to bulk approval keeping in line with our critical path.
  • Work reactively to change.
  • Experienced in working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Tenacious, assertive, and determined attitude with excellent attention to detail.
  • Highly organised and numerical with excellent problem-solving skills.
