About this opportunity:

Trading

  • Accountable for driving trade on a daily and weekly basis.
  • React to trade - chasing and mitigating performance and risk
  • Manage and present in season category WSSI, reforecasting sales based on current performance, managing inventory position and stock turn, highlighting any opportunities or risks to budget
  • Forecast and maintain linecards, collaborating with product team to ensure sales forecasts and merchandise orders are aligned, pulling forward, phasing or placing stock where necessary, minimising over/under stocks

Planning

  • In collaboration with the Planning Manager, develop and execute seasonal strategy, identifying lessons learnt and key opportunities.
  • Create robust sales plan for annual budgeting process, considering category opportunities and channel KPIs
  • Review weekly sales phasing based on planned promotional activity, and historic category lifts and drops
  • Develop stock targets and covers, to be signed off by Planning Manager
  • Analyse and present option framework on own product categories, carefully considering ranging, unproductive options from LY, pricing, end use and % newness.

Product Assortment

  • Build a balanced, customer focused range, collaborating with the Planning Manager to ensure the product range and margin is balanced across all product categories.
  • Range product based on channel/market specifications, sales trends, and opportunities for growth
  • Drive robust pricing strategies to deliver sales growth and margin targets, considering internal and external competition and margin
  • Review historical sales data including ROS, MD rate and ST% to inform buy quantities.

Commerical Awareness

  • Influence assortment through performance analysis, garnering customer feedback, and staying ahead of consumer trends and the competitive landscape
  • Build a dynamic understanding of the customer through regular store visits & proactively seeking customer feedback from all business channels
  • Use trade reports to propose strategic trading actions, identifying opportunities across all channels, reducing markdown risk to the business.

Reporting

  • Robust understanding of all reporting tools, continuously seeking ways to improve
  • Prepare Post Season Analysis (PSA) & present back to senior management, channel owners and design
  • Present detailed information regarding the Planning function in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.

Training & Development

  • Uses leadership skills to support and motivate the Merchandise team.
  • Effectively communicate with buying counterpart and allocator, sharing data insights to improve team decision-making.
  • Continually review processes and controls, initiating improvements in best practice as necessary

 

Desired Skills and Experience

You will bring:

  • An established Merchandise Planner with 5+ years of relevant experience that can perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proven ability to drive success through creative and commercial thinking.
  • Understanding of the fashion market, with the ability to interpret trends and build cohesive and commercial ranges.
  • Ability to evaluate KPIs and translate data into actions to drive sales and profitability.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skillset, including in-depth understanding of the OTB and the financial metrics that drive it.
  • Proficient in excel; demonstrated ability to learn new technology and tools.
  • Strong ability to apply logic and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to solve problems and make informed decisions.
  • Experience within the in-house design team highly desirable.
  • Previous experience with AP21, JOOR, Style Arcade preferable is also plus.
